Dr.Web Enterprise Suite has a client-server structure. The clients are installed on the protected workstations and the servers. Dr.Web Enterprise Suite server provides centralized administration of the anti-virus&anti-spam protection, including initial deployment, update of the virus databases and upgrade of the program modules of the anti-virus components, monitoring of the current state of the anti-virus protection, notification on viral incidents, and collection of statistics.

The installation of the anti-virus server and the deployment of the anti-virus network based on Dr.Web Enterprise Suite are easy and take a few minutes. The advantages of the Active Directory technology utilized in Windows-based servers can be used for the network deployment.
The connection between the anti-virus server and the agents is provided by TCP/IP and IPX/SPX/NetBIOS protocols and doesn't require the change of the original network structure.

Powerful Dr.Web Enterprise Suite anti-virus server

The anti-virus server is installed on one of the computers of the local network. The anti-virus server stores distribution kits of anti-virus packages for different operating systems of protected computers, the updates of the virus bases, of the anti-virus packages and anti-virus agents, users' keys and settings of packages of the protected computers and sends them by requests of correspondent agents.

A platform-independent architecture of the server software allows utilizing both Windows and UNIX-based machines as servers - a feature unavailable in other anti-virus programs.

The updating task of anti-virus agents, including updating of the virus databases is totally managed by the Dr.Web Enterprise Suite Server; this allows substantial saving on bandwidth and does not require manually updating.
The anti-virus server keeps one log of events of the whole anti-virus network and separate logs for each protected computer and other useful data, making use of both Dr.Web Enterprise Server databases - the inbuilt and the external one. The storage of anti-virus server data in one database and the option of the backup copy of the server critical data helps easily restore the anti-virus server or reinstall it to another computer in case its database was damaged.

To install Dr.Web Enterprise Suite (ES) you should have:

  • Local network based upon the IP, IPX or NetBIOS protocols (all protected computers and the anti-virus server should be included into this network);
  • A computer with processor Pentium III-667 or higher, operating memory 128 MB or higher (256 MB, if using the inbuilt database), free space on the hard drive 1 GB (20 MB for executable files, the rest - for logs and the built-in database), Windows NT 4.0/2000/XP/2003/2008, Linux, Free BSD (up to 7.0), Solaris (x86 и Sparc) operating systems - for 32- and 64-bit systems.
  • To automatically receive the content of the centralized installation directory and the updates from the updating server an access to the servers of the Dr.Web global updating system through the Internet should be established for the anti-virus server
  • A computer operated by Windows, or a computer with Sun JRE version 5.0 Update 1 or higher (requirements to the Os and the computer are determined in this case by the JRE requirements).
  • TCP/IP protocol connection between the console and the server.
  • The anti-virus agent and the anti-virus package require a computer with processor Pentium II-400 or higher, operating memory 32 MB or higher, free space on the hard drive 128 Mb or higher (8 MB for executable files, the rest - for logs), Windows 95/98/Me/NT/2000/XP/Vista.
IMPORTANT!!! Additionally, to install the anti-virus server for Windows a computer should have MS Installer 2.0. This program is included into Windows 2000 (with SP3) or higher versions. If using earlier versions of Windows, you should download and install MS Installer 2.0.
IMPORTANT!!! There should be no other anti-virus software installed on the workstations of the anti-virus network (other versions of the Dr.Web anti-virus programs including).

Dr.Web Enterprise Suite is licensed per workstations connected to the anti-virus server. Minimal license is for 5 workstations. If several Enterprise servers must be used, a separate license for each anti-virus server is required. A number of workstations connected to each anti-virus server should be stated. If a Windows file server must be protected, a “Dr.Web Enterprise Suite + protection of Windows file server” license should be purchased. When buying such license you should tell Dr.Web authorized partner the quantity of protected workstations in the network (including anti-virus servers) and the quantity of computers with Windows NT/2000/2003 Server (file servers) installed.

Two keys are generated for this product - a server key (with the number of workstations stated properly) and an agent key. The solution includes the Enterprise Suite server and the Dr.Web anti-virus for workstations operated by Microsoft Windows 9x-Vista.
