the anti-virus spares system resources and the option for controlling the processor loading provided in the anti-virus allows to set the scanning process priority in the system.
Rapid response to virus threats
Protection of file servers under the Dr.Web technology uses common for all Dr.Web anti-viruses products engine and the virus databases. We have forever abandoned the idea of a scheduled release of the virus databases updates, though Dr.Web has been the first anti-virus in the world to have its virus databases updates several times per day. The main reason for this is that viral outbreaks do not follow any schedules. The virus analysts of the company release updates for the virus databases IMMEDIATELY after a new threat emerged and analyzed.
Only 25 minutes are required for an update to be made available for the Dr.Web world-wide users - this is the time to carry out a comprehensive internal testing of a new add-on.
Unsurpassed detection for viruses
As all other products from the Dr.Web family, the anti-virus for protection of Novell Netware always shows high-productiveness and exceptional detection rate at the minimum system resources requirements the productivity of which is limited by the equipment of the protected server only.
Combined with the Dr.Web virus database, the activation of which does not require a sever reboot, and constantly perfecting heuristic analyzer leave viruses, including macro viruses, Trojan horses and other malicious codes no chances to infiltrate into the company data storages.
There several types of scanning of files and applications for viruses (at an administrator’s option)
- on-the-fly – immediately when a file is written from a workstation to a server, or when a file is opened by workstations on a server
- on demand
- as scheduled
Instantaneous notifications system
Flexible settings allow to optimize the program’s options. A user immediately receives a notification when the Dr.Web anti-virus detects a file infected with some virus or a maliciously designed program which can be cured, deleted or moved to the quarantine directory for subsequent analyzes. For suspicious of incurable files similar options are provided, excluding unnecessary in such cases curing. There is also an option of switching off a station, from which a virus threat comes, from a server.
Depending on tasks, the anti-virus operator can set the scanning of files by format, by the specified list of extensions, he can exclude separate directories or volumes from check, as well as specify all objects for scanning. The solution supports NetWare name spaces. The list of active scanning processes can be called from the Monitor menu item.
Handy administration
The process of administration of the anti-virus, the monitoring of its actions for protection of the server, optimization of its settings for real conditions of functioning of an enterprise, as well as adjustment of the notification system on viral events can be done either from the server console or from the remote console and do not require the server reboot, which gives the server administrator maneuverability in actions.
The program includes a system of instantaneous notification of a system administrator via email. By standard utilities of operating systems such notifications can be sent to stations from which a virus attack comes from. There can also be set a list of users or groups of users which will obligatory receive notifications and the texts for such notifications.
The scanning processes’ statistics dynamically displays information on its time, quantity of checked files, on detected viruses and other useful information.
Any actions of the anti-virus for protection of data stored on the server can be viewed in the log file.
