The Dr. Web distribution for protection of mail servers under Linux is delivered as rpm-package or tarball-archive, which includes:

  • High-performance Dr.Web anti-virus scanner with text interface functioning in the console mode (or in the window of an emulator in X Windows), which can be run either with the privileges of an administrator or with ordinary user rights;
  • Constant loaded Dr.Web Daemon, which, upon requests from filters, scans files on the drive or data transferred via a socket, using the same engine and the virus database as all scanners of the Dr.Web family. The daemon detects and cures all known viruses, filters mail on the basis of the headers analysis, by names and MIME-types of attachments, checks files compressed with various archiving utilities such as ARJ, CAB, GZIP, RAR, TAR, ZIP, etc., as well as files packed with different packers. The scanning depth for viruses (the nesting level) of such files has no limits, but, if necessary (when, for example, a mail server receives a mail bomb) this parameter can be limited by the administrator in the configuration file;
  • Automatic updating utility provides for hot updates every time the computer is connected to Internet.
Handy administration
The Dr.Web anti-virus for mail servers enables the administrator to flexibly tune the options panel, which allows easy set up of the anti-virus for optimal operation. Any actions with viruses are reflected in the log file. A handy system of virus events notification helps to meet demands of your company’s security policy and doesn’t overload the network with senseless messages.

Optionally you can install the Dr.Web statistics agent for collection of statistics from mail filters by Dr.Web. From time to time the agent sends information on the detected viruses to the anti-virus statistics server . And the network administrator gets access to the general statistics and to other network data.

  • Licensing per addresses. Available solutions are for 15, 30, 50 addresses and any number of addresses above 50, excluding aliases. Traffic is unlimited. This type of licensing will suit companies with comparatively small number of e-mail addresses, but intensive mail traffic
  • Licensing per server fits for about 2 000 addresses
  • Unlimited licensing with no limitations of the quantity of addresses or traffic is designed to meet demands of large business and ISPs.
