New appliance server from Etegro Technologies, Doctor Web and Novell

November 23, 2007

Doctor Web, Etegro Technologies and a Moscow branch of Novell announce a release of an appliance server designed to protect mail and Internet traffic of medium and large businesses. The new appliance is based on Novell SuSE Linux Enterprise Server 10 and pre-installed Dr.Web Security Suite for Unix Appliance.

The appliance server is a ready-to-use comprehensive solution that complies with “pay&forget” principle which means that installation and support can be performed by an end-user. The installation procedure rules out any configuration mistakes by staff members which reduces deployment time from several days to a few minutes. .

The new appliance server is based onNovell SuSE Linux Enterprise Server 10 and pre-installed Dr.Web Security Suite for Unix Appliance, used to protect computer networks from viruses and undesired mail.

Dr.Web Security Suite for Unix Appliance includes products for protecting mail traffic from viruses and spam (Dr.Web Mail Security Suite for Unix Appliances) and for scan of HTTP and FTP traffic for viruses (Dr.Web Gateway Security Suite for Unix Appliancesin Unix-family networks (Linux/FreeBSD/OpenBSD/Solaris(x86).

Engineers of Novell Consulting took part in development of the new server appliance using ETegro Technologies hardware. An elaborated automatic installation procedure rules out any configuration by IT-staff of a company.

A VPN protection system from Infotecs is expected to be added to the components of the solution in the nearest future, so the solution will be able to protect remote connections to local resources of a network and shield file transfer and communication channels between offices of a customer.
